Java Developer/Programmer/Software Engineer/Architect, Java SE, J2SE, Scala, Startup/start-up, Hedge Fund, High Frequency Trading, Algo Trading, Algorithmic Trading, Auto Trading, Automated Trading, Ultra Low Latency, Electronic Trading, Etrading A start-up hedge fund are looking to hire a very talented Java developer to join their outfit. The venture is fully backed, and no further initial investment is being sought, but they require a Java expert to help construct their high-frequency trading system. The successful candidate will join what will initially be a small team (of experienced developers/traders/quants who previously worked together in one of the world's best prop trading teams), and as such will play a vital and varied role within the company. Initially they will be working on an entirely greenfield high-frequency trading system, and must be comfortable in the entire development lifecycle - contributing to design and architecture, working with quants, developing greenfield code, familiarising with new asset classes, and deploying live trading systems. Essential requirements: * Expert Java - excellent core understanding and low-level programming experience * Performance profiling/optimisation, multithreading, concurrency * Strong academic record Desirable experience: * Experience of low-latency, high throughput systems * Strong UNIX and Shell scripting * Strong Scala Previous finance experience is NOT required.
