Dear Customer, |
The Reserve Bank of India has recently extended the mandate for second factor authentication (i.e. requirement of an additional password for transactions) to all credit card transactions which are not done on a physical swipe machine. |
We are in the process of implementing these guidelines. In the interim however, the transaction alerts for such transactions will be appended with the text as below |
'This transaction has been processed without the additional factor of authentication prescribed by RBI'. |
Examples of such transactions are |
- Standing instructions for bill payments - Travel & hotel bookings where you share your Credit Card details with the travel agent, airline or hotel - Magazine subscriptions, etc. where you share your Credit Card details in the subscription form | |
Please note that these transactions on your card will continue to be processed in the same fashion as is being done presently.
The above is only for your information and there is no requirement for you to contact the bank. |
Warm regards, Manager - Customer Service Citibank N.A., India |
