Delegates of the 8th QS-APPLE (Asia Pacific Professional Leaders in Education) conference will be able to enjoy a special lunch session on universities and entrepreneurship.
A joint presentation by TAIPEI TECH (National Taipei University of Technology) and PT Multistrada, the session will touch on the impact that entrepreneurship has on higher education institutes and vocational programmes.
TAIPEI TECH will be represented by Dr. Leehter Yao, President of TAIPEI TECH, while PT Multistrada's presentation will be delivered by Mr. Wayah Wiroto - Director of Planning & Learning Centre.
TAIPEI TECH will share about how its methods of educating students have helped them become top entrepreneurs. Currently, ten out of a hundred founders, board directors or CEOs of listed stock companies in Taiwan are TAIPEI TECH alumni. TAIPEI TECH's curriculum provides practical training that caters to the needs of Taiwan's industries. Students also benefit from a mandatory internship programme that facilitates the integration of theory and practice. They are encouraged to participate in competitions to gain valuable experience and improve their ideas. TAIPEI TECH will present on how its model of education can become a guide for entrepreneurs all over the world.
Mr. Wayah Wiroto of PT Multistrada will talk about "the value of practical entrepreneurial skills for vocational education: an Indonesian perspective." His presentation will cover why students need to have entrepreneurial skills so that they can land good jobs. By adding entrepreneurial skills to vocational ones, vocational programme graduates can have an added advantage over higher education institution graduates. He will also discuss the embedment of entrepreneurial skills into the curriculum.
